I remember seeing this in a Target store once and really wishing I had a 3D0. Overall, this is a decent port of the game that could of been enjoyed better had it had a proper controller to play it on. The music in Cammy’s stage is absolutely my favorite version I have heard and as such I have shared a link for you all to listen to so you can judge for yourself. Some stages sound horrible like Vega’s (Balrog’s) and others are enhanced quite nicely. The music itself was re-done for this version of the game and its hit or miss. Upon the next load up I was met with a black screen of death rather then a character select screen…I had to start all over. Bison fight the music stopped running completely. My hopes of finishing the game met its demise due to this as during the M. This in theory seems like a good idea, but if you have scratches on your disc or your 3DO laser sucks, the music starts to skip and the game starts to slow down due to the machine trying to reload the data. The game loads all of the character data, in-game sounds and graphics during each load up sequence, but the music itself is in a REDBOOK CD format and played/looped live during the fights. Thankfully, there is no additional loading between rounds. With the game being disc based, you can expect some loading time between sequences and the longest occurs when you’re preparing to fight a new character. Graphically the game looks pretty decent, though its no where near an perfect port of the arcade graphics as they seem to look washed out at times. With only 3 face buttons, the 3D0 forces you to assign an attack to a start button which is in a very uncomfortable spot and the control pad itself can become very unresponsive when attempting certain moves. The obvious shortcomings of this version is the fact that the 3D0 controller is just not made to play a one on one fighter like Street Fighter 2 very well. The 3D0 version at the time was the only one with super moves and the ultimate evil bad ass: Akuma. This game was released on multiple platforms when it hit the home consoles with the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis versions being the best overall versions to play. Or if you just want easier access to the pause button in any game.Today I decided to try out the 3DO version of Capcom’s SSF2T and the overall result was mixed. World Heroes 2 - run button is your throw/taunt buttonPlenty of other games map menus, inventory screens, or status screens to one of the buttons, so if you'd prefer an action button for those cases it can be useful there too. Star Soldier - select cycles through your speed settings Street Fighter II' - run button is your third attack, select cycles Spriggan mk 2 - select toggles through weapons Special Criminal Investigation - select uses boost Soldier Blade - select cycles through your speed settings Silent Debuggers - run button fires secondary weapon Riot Zone - run button uses desperation move Metamor Jupiter - select cycles through ship transformations Martial Champion - run button attacks high Legendary Axe 2 - run button throws bombs Gate of Thunder - select cycles through your speed settings Games which map stuff to select or run (3 button controller games):įorgotton Worlds - the only game that REQUIRES a 3 button controller Īfter Burner II - maps your Afterburners to runĪir Zonk - select fires up rear thrusters to damage enemies behind youĭracula X: Rondo of Blood - maps item crush to selectīattle Royale - select + d-pad uses special attackīlazing Lazers - select cycles through your speed settingsīloody Wolf - run throws grenades or flash bombs, usesĬyber Core - select cycles your speed settingsĭownload - select cycles your speed settingsįinal Match Tennis - maps the lop shot to runįinal Soldier - select cycles through your speed settings Here is a list I have compiled through lurking and searching on PC Engine FX/Atariage/Neogaf/other forums and my own trial and error. The controllers have a switch on them to go between 2 button and 6 button modes, and you have to have the switch in 2 button mode or the game will go crazy. These controllers will not allow you to map select or run to any other button. The 6 button controller works entirely differently. It's very useful for games that mapped stuff besides menus to the run or select button. The 3 button controller actually just allows you to map either the select or run button (using a switch) to a third action button. One lesson I learned the hard way is that the 3 button games and the 6 button games work very differently. The SD System will open up a lot more games, some of which require (or heavily benefit from) more than the standard 2 button pad. If many of you are like me, you bought some new controllers to use with your PC Engines and TG16s.
